The Ina dress is one of a kind. She’s our goes-with-everything, first thing we reach for in our closet, and never fails to make us feel beautiful. With its empire bodice, smocked back, large and long ties, split sides ample skirt, and two large hidden pockets, the dress evokes the pleasure of relaxing times on holidays. It is lined until above the knee.
Daniele designed the dress thinking about mothers to be, creating the most comfortable design. They could also breastfeed their babies in it and wear it even after pregnancy, keeping it as a cherished piece, reminding them of that treasured moment in their lives.
With this dress, we wanted to pay tribute to a woman called “the mother of authentic midwifery”: Ina May Gaskin. She brought new life to midwifery in the US and beyond after learning her skills alongside traditional Guatemalan midwives. She helped found the self-sustaining community, The Farm, with her husband in 1971, where she created The Farm Midwifery Center; It became well known during the 1970s as a place where authentic midwifery was practiced and taught. She is known for the Gaskin Maneuver ( recognised obstetrical maneuver) and is a role model for midwives who still dare to think of different paths. She has sought to inspire midwives to implement more humane obstetrics and natural, old-age-inspired, fearless childbirth in their countries, providing women the chance to choose the way they would like to give birth.
This piece of exceptional quality will travel throughout the years in peace, and so to be passed down to your daughters, nieces, sisters… For a new life!
